How did christopher columbus start exploring?

Christopher Columbus began his exploration journey in the late 15th century after becoming convinced that a westward route to Asia would be a faster way to access lucrative trade goods like spices and gold. He secured support from the Spanish monarchs, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, who provided him with ships and crew. In 1492, Columbus set sail on his first voyage, ultimately reaching the Bahamas, mistakenly believing he had found a new route to Asia.
