Can guinea pigs understand humans

It kind of depends on how you take care of your guinea pig. The more you talk to them and play with them, the more they will show there little personalities to you. I know it may sound a bit crazy though. I have had guinea pigs my whole life, and they tend to react to certin peoples voices, for example who ever talks to them the most. My guinea pig knows her name and when we put her down on the floor we call her name and she will run over to us, sort of like a dog. But like i said it all depends on how you take care of them, and how much attention you pay to them (: So yes i guess they sort of can understand us !
