What is the falling action and resolution of 'To Kill a Mockingbird'?

Scout, Jem, and Dill become fascinated with their mysterious neighbor Boo Radley and have an escalating series of encounters with him. Meanwhile, Atticus is assigned to defend a black man, Tom Robinson, against the spurious rape charges that Bob Ewell has brought against him. Scout, and especially Jem, who have been watching the trial, cannot understand how a jury could possibly convict Tom Robinson based on Ewell's clearly fabricated story.
