How do you find a short circuit that blows the fuse causing the instrument panel tail lights and license plate lights to go out on a 1995 Honda Civic EX?

I am guessing that you have an aftermarket stereo, check the illumination circuit power wire in the stereo wire harness, it may be grounding against metal inside the dash. Most new stereos have their own lighting system and do not require the additional feed, most times it is left hanging. Locate it and insulate the bare end.
