How do you check the charging system on a 2002 1100 Honda shadow spirit?

Just run a volt meter on the battery with the motor off, should have 12.4 or so. That means that the battery is good. Run up the engine to around 2500 to 3000 rpm, should have around 14 volts. If so, then all is well.
