What is the difference between a planet's rotation and a planet's revolution?

Earth rotates on its axis and it revolves around the sun. Both things conserve earth's angular momentum.

Each rotation is a day, and each solar revolution is a year. The days and years both help us mark the passage of time.

Other than that, there are not too many similarities.
