What is 'firefly' in German?

"Leuchtkäfer" is a German equivalent of "firefly" (Lampyridae family).

As an insect, the firefly goes through stages as an egg, a larva, a pupa and a winged, flying adult. It may be considered an attractive insect in terms of the glow generated by its distinct green, red or yellow light. But it may not be considered at all attractive by the rest of nature. Specifically, its defenses include chemicals that are distasteful and even poisonous to other wildlife.
