Your dog may develop a rash several days to a week after ingesting some types of rat poison because it is having a bleeding crisis. One type of rat poison works by eliminating Vitamin K from the body, which keeps the dog from being able to clot its blood. Over time, this will kill the dog (and is how it kills rats, too) unless it is treated by a veterinarian.
If you know that your dog recently ate rat poison, get it to the veterinarian immediately - this is a medical emergency.
