Who was the president of Uruguay in 2009?

Dr. Tabaré Vázquez was the president of Uruguay at that time. He was the president from 2005 to 2010. Since 2010 the president of Uruguay is José Mujica. Both belong to the political party called "Frente Amplio" (Broad Front would be its name in English).

Ex President Dr. Tabaré Vázquez continued working as a cancer doctor and recently published a book about that subject. He continued attending to political activities and it's been rumored that he would present himself as a candidate again for the presidency in the next 2014 elections (in Uruguay re-election of the President is prohibited by its Constitution).
