Why is Leah so mean in breaking dawn?

Leah's mean because she is bitter about becoming a werewolf, and she could hear Sam's, the leader of the pack, love for Emily (Leah's cousin). Leah and Sam were highschool sweethearts until Sam imprinted (fell in love with) on Leah's cousin, Emily.
