What is the difference between a pergola and a trellis?

An awning is sheet of canvas that has been stretched on a frame or any sort of border and used to keep the sun or rain off a storefront, window, doorway, and etc. A canopy on the other hand is a cloth used to cover big furniture or held up onto anything
