All guns from that early doesnt have a serial number since serial numbers weren't introduced until 1968 when the gca (gun control act) took effect. The only way to trace the gun is through the month and year it was manufactured. Remington models have a small letter written infron of two bigger letters on the barrel. Mine has a small c and two big Y's. The c represents the month it was made using the following code B L A C K P O W D E R X
B represents January, l represents February, a represents April and so on. I'll attach a link to the info I found.
