What was the cost of damage from the earthquake in Chile?

The 1970 Ancash earthquake in norther Peru lasted for 45 seconds. It occurred on May 31. The earthquake and the landslide it caused brought on the worst natural disaster recorded in Peru up to that time. It is reported to have killed 74,194 people.
