Where did rice salad originate?

I'm pretty sure that rice salad was just an invention from each and every country. Which is why it is extremely hard to pin point a single orgin. It was probably created when someone decided that they had some leftover rice and some leftover of something else, and they threw it together.

And then it was vigorously shaken... Tada...Rice salad. jk, but the above is true...
