There are actually four types of different resume formats.
- Chronological: The chronological resume starts by listing your most recent positions in descending order, which means your most recent resume is listed first, followed by earlier jobs. It is the most commonly used types of resume.
- Functional: This resume has more focus on skills and competencies than work experience. It is used by people who have gaps in their employment history.
- Combination: This resume lists your skills and experience before anything else. After that you will find the employment history.
- Targeted: The most recent addition to the format types is targeted resume which is a highly customized form of CV. Such resume only highlights the skills and experience which is relevant to the job you are applying to.
Other modern resume types include infographic, video resumes and PDF resumes.
