What makes a roaring sound in the front end of a 2006 Silverado 1500 z71?

It sounds like a problem with the front wheel bearings. If the sound gets louder as you go faster then bingo. Buy the improved hub assemblies for about $154 from NAPA. If you do not know how to do this then you could expect to pay anywhere from $250 - $450 per wheel.
