What is the difference between ti and tip?

T.I.P was his original rapper name and when he got signed he changed it to T.I. in respect of the rapper Q-Tip. So now T.I. is like his business man self and T.I.P is his rougher rapper side. Like a alter ego (You know like Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus) :D
