The term "empress" is not used for any specific type of animal (as with the term queen), and a female Emperor Penguin is also not referred to by that name.
The name Empress was given to one of three koalas that arrived at the Taipei Zoo in November 2011. Their names are Empress, Coral, and Tiwi.
