If you drive normally with a mix of around 50/50 city highway, I recommend changing the oil and filter every 5,000 miles. If you drive a 75/50 mix then I would recommend 4,500 miles, and if you drive 25/75 I would recommend 5,500 miles. 100% highway you can use 6,000 miles. All city then I would use 4,000 miles. As you can see it depends on how you drive. Make sure to use the correct weight oil as listed in your owner's manual and use a quality filter such as Purolator, Wix, or AC/Delco. If you are using 100% Synthetic oil then add 3,000 miles to all these figures. Also change the air filter every 30,000 miles. Although i would agree with most of the above statements... if you really cared about your vehical .... i would.......... *NEVER GO OVER 3000 MILES* before an oil change, and it doesent matter if its in-city or hiway. Todays engines run VERY HOT and the viscosity of the oil breaks down quite fast. Running over 3000 miles only invites "friction problems" which leads to early wear. Yes... you can get away with it, but do you really want to destroy your engine by running on worn-out oil? ... just to save a few bucks??? CLEAN oil is the *key* to friction protection,,, and running at highway speeds will just destroy your engine if your viscosity is nill. In my opinion , NEVER EVER go over 3000 before changing oil. EVER Also, i would highly reocmmend "ONCE A YEAR" have your transmission serviced. People neglect there Transmissions like it never needs service...THEY DO. You take care it these things,,, and they will take care of you. If you neglect these things, they will leave you stranded with a huge unexpected bill, just because you want to save a "few bucks". If you go cheap... well, that explains itself.
