What is being done to protect the diamondback rattlesnake from extinction?

The eastern diamond is protected in many areas of its range. Although listed as least concern as a species, it is endangered in some states.

Surveys are being done to gather info on numbers, and much land is being set aside to provide habitat.

One state that has such a program going on is North Carolina, and I am involved with the study there.
