How many cubs do capybaras have a year?

Capybaras typically have one litter of cubs per year, although they can have between 2 to 8 pups in a single litter. The gestation period lasts around 150 days, and the young are usually born fully furred and able to swim shortly after birth. They are weaned at about 16 weeks but may remain with their mother for several months.
