There will be less competition for breeding. The males of social animals often have intense battles for the pack's females. However, two males of a solitary species may still meet each other during the breeding season in search of a female and fight. It's just that these fights will be less likely and less intense. Also, if a solitary animal catches prey, it doesn't have a social obligation to share the food; it can eat the whole thing.
