Are fijians polynesian

Fiji, which is West of Tonga, is apart of Melanesia, while Tonga is apart of Polynesia. Therefore, Fijians are NOTPolynesian, but are Melanesian.It is a part of Melanesia according to borders drawn by the colonials but the language is more polynesian then melanesian.
