How many species of catnip?

Catnip belongs to the genus Nepeta, which comprises over 250 species. The most well-known species is Nepeta cataria, commonly referred to as catnip. Other species within this genus may also have similar effects on cats, but Nepeta cataria is the most widely used and studied.
