Ritalin was first manufactured in 1944. In 1957, after making improvements to the medication, the Ciba Pharmaceutical Company began selling it by the name "Ritalin" to treat disorders including depression, chronic fatigue, narcolepsy, and Mohr's Syndrome. During clinical studies, Ritalin was found to improve concentration and helped subjects manage tasks more efficiently, thus researchers concluded that the medication was effective in treating ADHD/ADD.
