n the Lost of Beautifulness the irony is when Hannah says grand ain't the Word for it! What a whiteness! And what a cleanliness! It tears out the eyes from the head! Such a tenant the landlord ought to give out a medal or let down the rent free. She cleans her house and paint the walls in hopes that the landlord will either let her live there for free or omit the rent all together. But she finds that he raises the rent by five dollars.
