What does the title gattaca mean in the movie Gattaca?

Gattaca is the name of the space station in the movie.

During the credits the letters G, C, T, and A are all highlighted. These letters stand for guanine, cytosine, thymine, and adenine. They are the four base pairs of DNA, or Deoxyribonucleic acid.
