How do you break a dogs habit of urinating on everythig?

Dogs urinate when they are feeling scared or submissive. In this case, taking your dog to a potty area (preferably outside if it is the arrival of a friend or neighbor) immediately, but gently, when they start to get excited is a good alternative to a spot on that new carpet. So they know they are not in trouble, try giving them a small treat if they potty in a good place.

As for discipline, you may be using the wrong punishment method, or a harsh one that makes your dog very afraid.

It would be a good idea to check with your vet if it seems prolonged.
