How can you tell if a Pokemon likes you in Pokemon LeafGreen?

To tell if a Pokemon likes you or not in LeafGreen or FireRed, there are a few things you can try:

- Give an item to the Pokemon. During the period between giving the item and the Pokemon receiving the effects of it, you should see a short scene which shows the Pokemon comming towards, staying still or going away from you. Depending on how far it moves depends on how much it likes you. If the Pokemon moves towards you, it likes you. This degree depends how close it gets. The closer it is, the more it likes you as a trainer. Conversely, if it moves away from you, the Pokemon hates you. If it does not move at all, the Pokemon feels neutral towards you, bordering on the line of like and dislike.

- A more subtle way of determining how much (or how little) a Pokemon likes you is by observing the effect of the move Return (or Frustration) when used by the particular Pokemon. A Pokemon which has a very strong Return attack and a very weak Frustration attack likes you as a traner. Thus, a Pokemon with a weak Return attack and a strong Frustration attack will tend to hate you. This method, however, may be time-consuming or just plain unessesary but still is a way of determining your Pokemon's feelings towards you.
