What is the box turtles defense?

Box turtles have a unique defense mechanism: they can retract their limbs and head into their shells, which are hinged at the bottom, allowing them to completely close off their bodies. This ability to "box" themselves in helps protect them from predators. Additionally, their hard, bony shells provide a formidable barrier against attacks. When threatened, they may also remain motionless or blend into their surroundings to avoid detection.
