Why does CHT cylinder head temp. peak come before EGT exhaust gas temp. peak and what is the relationship between the two that would indicate an engine problem?

combustion happens in the cylinder for the CHT so that is why temp peaks there first - then the hot gas is exhausted for the EGT

  • i would guess that a larger than normal difference between the

temps would indicate a problem with gas flow, perhaps a breach or blockage in a cylinder or the exhaust system
