What do you call a cadet with no rank?

A cadet with no rank is typically referred to as a "basic cadet" or simply "cadet." In military academies, basic cadets are often in their initial training phase and have not yet been promoted to a higher rank. Depending on the institution, they may also be called "trainees" or "rookies."
