How is working life on a cruise ship?

Depending on the job, the work days are long, typically more than 8 hours daily. There are regulations that ensure crew and staff get rest however. An employee will be on a ship from 2-10 months, with exceptions. People with staff positions, such as entertainment, shoppies, spa, can usually use the ship's amenities, with restrictions. People in the crew, such as waitstaff, housekeeping, laundry, usually are not allowed in guest areas when not on duty. Crew can get off the ship when in port, if they are not scheduled to work, and if there are not restrictions in the port (which is rare).
