What steps do you need for a pet turtle?

first you should start out with the tank. a 20 to 30 gallon tank would be enough to start out with but you may have to upgrade as you go on. then you must have a uvb bulb and lamp. gravel for a bottom and plenty of water. make sure to have enough room for them to bask on. live plants liven the tank but arent essencial.have the light directed towards the dry land for them to bask. make sure to have plenty of food because they are always hungry. but dont feed them to much because that is bad for them.
