Why are there so many different types of birth control?

Because different people have different needs and different methods have specific risks for instance Birth Control pills are not a great choice for a smoker and really not the answer for smokers over thirty five, but might be perfect for a younger person who has a committed sex partner and doesn't want to worry about condoms at the last minute or who may feel uncomfortable with internal methods.
