Why are polar bears drowning in the Alaskan region?

The polar bears that were drowned were four bears killed in a terrible storm, that the bears could not make it back to shore because of the rough water conditions. The bears are not drowning on a regular basis in the Arctic. Source: SPPI, 35 Inconvenient Truths
