How to read codes on 1990 Honda civic dx 1.5 l engine?

All you have to do is lift up the carpet on the passenger side of the car and below is an ecu. On the face plate of that ecu there is a led that blinks. Count the number of times that the LED blinks and look it up on the internet or a Haynes manual.
