Miguel de Cervantes enjoyed the success of his seminal work, "Don Quixote," for a relatively brief period, as the first part was published in 1605 and he passed away in 1616. Although "Don Quixote" became highly influential and celebrated, Cervantes did not fully reap the financial benefits or widespread acclaim during his lifetime, as he struggled with poverty and overshadowed by other literary figures. It was only posthumously that his work gained the recognition and status it holds today as a cornerstone of Western literature.
