What is the foreshadowing in A Retrieved Reformation?

There are 2 instances of foreshadowing in "A Retrieved Reformation." The first is that Jimmy Valentine was working in the prison shoe shop before he was released. We later find out that he started a shoe store in Elmore under the alias of Ralph Spencer. The second instance of foreshadowing is the narrator tells us that he is a crook, and uses his homemade tools to crack safes. This is how he saves Agatha, the little girl trapped in the vault, at the end.
