Vertebrates embryos generally begin development as a ball of cells, then a tiny shape consisting of a large head and a tail-like spinal column (bearing resemblance to a tadpole). Shortly afterward, the head shape begins to change to more directly resemble the type of animal the embryo is, and limbs begin to sprout.
