The margay (Leopardus wiedii) primarily inhabits tropical and subtropical forests, including both evergreen and deciduous forests. They are often found in areas with dense vegetation, as well as near water sources like rivers and streams. Margays are also adaptable and can live in secondary forests and even some agricultural areas, but they prefer environments that provide ample cover for hunting and shelter.
