No one really knows who actually saw the first pelican, but 1803, a group of hunters found this island in the Indian ocean, near Vero Beach, called "Pelican Island". These hunters were massacring at least 60 spoonbills a day, until Theodeore Roosvelt came in the island and made a refugee for pelicans... What a happy ending. :D
