Why did Mrs.Winterbottom really leave her family?

She left to find Mike,or as in Phoebe says "The Lunatic" because Mrs.Winterbottom gave him away for adoption before marrying Mr.Winterbottom. Because she thought about him and she just had to find him and dettle things with the Winterbottom family.
