Yes, they often talk to each other! And plus, Chad goes the long way to his set and that is just between the So Random! set just to see Sony. And they always fight about pointless stuff. And, fighting is their way of flirting and sometimes Chad seems to smile at her or at least tries to hide it. In the Season 2 Finale, "Falling for the Falls", there are 2 Parts. Sonny and Chad's relationship finally kick off. Part 1 aired on June 13, 2010 and Part 2 airs on June 20, 2010.
