Why did Vincents Van Gogh painted in dark colors?

Actually he did not. Vincent Van Gogh was a very creative man. His favorite color was actually red, and he used a lot o different kind of animal bloods to create different shades of red. He also cut of his ear and gave it to his girlfriend.
