How did pickel ball get its name?

Pickleball got its name from the family dog of one of its co-inventors, Joel Pritchard. The dog, named Pickles, would chase after the ball during the games played in Pritchard's backyard. Although there are alternative stories about the name's origin, this anecdote is widely accepted as the reason behind the sport's quirky name.
