What is pdq?

Print, Don't Queue might be one answer, but the acronym has been around for a long time. It appears in the novel Babbitt (1922) by Sinclair Lewis, where the protagonist uses it to say that he and friend will have lunch PDQ: pretty dam(n) quick(ly).
