The Osage tribe used large, rectangular structures called "earth lodges" instead of tipis for their buffalo hunts. These earth lodges were semi-permanent dwellings made from wooden frames covered with earth and grass, providing better insulation and stability. The design allowed for communal living and facilitated cooking and storage during the hunts. Additionally, they would sometimes use temporary shelters made from buffalo hides during the hunt itself.
