They are a protected species. They are also dangerous. A bite or even a graze that draws blood will become infected and if not treated will result in death. If a komodo manages to bite the ankle of a large animal such as a deer, the dragon will wait several days for the poison from its saliva to finally cause the deer to die. Then, as if by magic, any komono in the area will appear to feast on the corpse. It is because they eat foul, fetish carrion, that their saliva is so potently germ-ridden.
