Why is there fakes?

People make "fakes" for many different reasons. Fake videos, pictures, articles, and websites can be classified into three main categories.

*A "Humor Fake" is a piece of fake material intended to be comical or funny. Humor fakes are mostly fake articles, Photoshopped pictures, and edited pictures. Humor fakes include "Rickrolling," racism, celebrity humor, and religious humor.

*A Scam is a realistic looking piece of fake material designed to lure oblivious people into revealing passWords, credit card numbers, and other important information. Scams are usually in the form of official-looking websites.

*A "Boredom Video" is a video made by someone usually when they are bored and have nothing else to do. A boredom video is a genuine-looking video that when watched reveals an unintended picture or clip. Often the video will tell the viewer to look for a hidden message in a picture, and after a few seconds will show a scary face accompanied by a loud scream. There are thousands of "boredom videos" on YouTube.
